History
Scanics has been providing high quality, value-added document solution services to area businesses since its inception in 2000. Our first service offering was the conversion of black-and-white paper documents into electronic images, provided on CD-ROM. We then expanded into scanning color images and large format documents, CD duplication, DVD duplication, and CD/DVD on-disc printing within the first 2 years.

Today Scanics not only offers these services but many more. We have listened to our clients and are now offering our services either at our own facility or onsite at your company. We have also added hardware and software sales from leading manufacturers like Kodak, Fujitsu, Graphtec, Colortrac, Captaris, and Critical Technologies. In 2004 we became a Xerox Authorized Sales Agent, and today have added to that product line by becoming a Xerox Authorized Dealer.
We continue to expand our facilities and product offerings to meet the needs of clients, both existing and future. Quality customer care was our focus in 2000 and remains our focus today.

Don Mapes
Founder and Managing Member

Don Mapes is a founding partner and officer of Scanics, Inc., a managing member of Scanics Office Products, Scanics of Springfield, LLC, Scanics of Illinois, LLC, and Forty Four Marketing, LLC.
Prior to founding Scanics, Don joined ROLM/IBM Corporation in 1983 and later found opportunity with Xerox Corporation where he served as a major accounts manager for 19 years.

While at Xerox, he led a team in developing a university facilities management and consulting services strategy that achieved a revenue growth rate of 1,075% from 1995 to 2001.

His sales experience includes the marketing of hardware solutions ranging from high-speed production printers to networked multifunction devises, software solutions, and consulting services to Illinois K-16, government, and commercial accounts.

Don developed, coordinated, and implemented an integrated Xerox Account Strategy for (7) university accounts in Illinois including the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

He achieved a #3 ranking in United States, as a major accounts manager for sales performance in 1998.

Don achieved Xerox President’s Club for (8) years as a major accounts manager, Xerox’s highest sales performance award (minimum 150% revenue target).

He also achieved Par Club for (4) years as a major accounts manager while serving at Xerox (minimum 100% revenue target).

Don’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University.
