Imagine that a natural disaster affects your infrastructure,
or a serious virus shuts down the ability for your customer
service organization to access customer records. With imagio
Mirror, they need only log into our system from any Internet
enabled computer to retrieve information that may be temporarily
unavailable on your main system even if this is done from
their homes.
How imagio Mirror Works
Scanics can provide a “hot”, instantly usable
repository site. To begin with, we establish a “repository”
for your documents at our site, you would think of this as
an application in your system. This repository has exactly
the same index structure as your primary system. We then build
queries that match the queries that your people use on their
primary system every day. Next, we do an electronic conversion
of the existing images that are on your primary system, these
are the historical documents that you already have. We convert
from your backup platters, tapes, DVD, and many other medias.
We then do extensive testing with the data that we have converted.
During this conversion process we also strip out any proprietary
headers and we convert your images to a non-proprietary Tiff
Group IV image.

Once the electronic backfile is accomplished, we complete
the process of working with you to write a release script
for your scanning process. If you are currently releasing
images and index values to your primary imaging system, our
process simply provides a second, and secure release. This
second release (to imagio Mirror) can be scheduled to occur
at any time you prefer, whether immediately or after hours.
This process is an encrypted FTP transfer. This transfer process
is validated each time, in that we know the exact amount of
data that is to be transferred in each batch, we also validate
the received batch against that known number. At the end of
each and every day, all of your new images and index values
that you have transferred to us, are copied off to tape, and
taken by courier to an offsite vault managed by Arcus. This
insures that we can meet our own disaster recovery guidelines.
Should your businesses primary site fail, your administrator
simply activates your imagio Mirror repository and notifies
your authorized users to go to our web site for further instructions.
Your authorized users will already have our browser plug-in
loaded, this is done at setup, and also done during the two
testing sessions that are held annually. If a user does not
have the plug-in, but is an authorized user, they may load
the plug-in when they log onto our site. Your systems administrator
always has access to your repository. Otherwise, access is
totally restricted until your administrator activates your
repository and grants access to your authorized users. Your
administrator has the ability to activate this service 24
hours per day, 7 days per week, without the need to contact
us. Our service provides burst bandwidth when required through
Airband. This insures that we will never be inaccessible due
to a lack of proper bandwidth availability. When your primary
site is restored, you simply de-activate your imagio Mirror
repository and return to business as usual. A full set of
auditing tools and periodic testing services are included.
Transition Strategy
Chances are, if your imaging system has grown very large,
you find yourself in a predicament. Many times vendors go
away, or occasionally you reach the point that you would like
for them to go away, but the costs to change are just too
staggering. iMagio Mirror converts proprietary imaging formats
to an industry standard Group IV Tiff, so whether you decide
someday to change and use iMagio as your "primary"
imaging system, or you decide to transition to another vendors
solution, iMagio Mirror provides you with that common ground
and common format that you need to make the change possible.
